Hey y’all, it’s Des. I wanted to sit down and share something that’s been sitting heavy on my heart, because I know I’m not alone in this.
Lately, the world has just been… a lot. With everything happening around us—people losing benefits, families struggling, the constant news cycle—it’s been hard to show up and create the way I’m used to. And as an empath? Whew. I feel everything. Sometimes it feels like I’m carrying the whole world’s emotions on my back while still trying to keep my own life in order.

And the truth is, it’s been affecting my business. Marketing, posting, promoting… all of it feels like trying to push through mud when real life is hitting so many people hard. I haven’t had a real client in a couple of months, and that’s scary because photography is part of my survival.

Yes, I’ve got a full-time job, but in today’s world even that isn’t enough on its own.
What I’m realizing, though, is that this is a season a lot of creatives are in. So many of us are dealing with creative burnout and trying to find our way back to ourselves. Some days it feels pointless creating something beautiful when the world feels chaotic. Other days, it feels like the one thing keeping us going.
But here’s the reminder I had to give myself: even when it feels small, what you do still matters. If your art brings someone joy, comfort, reflection, or relief, then it’s doing exactly what it was meant to do. Your work doesn’t have to fix the world to still be valuable.
And if you're in that place where you're searching for creative block solutions or just trying to find a little spark again, you’re not alone. I’m right here with you, figuring it out day by day.
I’m committing to being more transparent and showing up here more often — aiming for a blog post or two each week. Because if I’m feeling this, I know someone else is too. And maybe my honesty can help someone feel a little less alone.
If you’re reading this, thank you for being here. We’re all navigating this strange time together, and we’ll get through it one creative breath at a time.
